The world needs a collective vacation! In a time when it seems harder to find common ground between individuals, I think we all can agree that the world would benefit from some rest and healing.  As we head into the last quarter of 2020 weariness has settled in on us as we continue to navigate the significant changes that began with Covid-19 last March. Since none of the turmoil and disruption seems to be slowing down for the foreseeable future, how can we live the months ahead without succumbing to the lingering emotional, spiritual and physical fatigue these bring?

I believe an important key is to purposely attend to the areas of healthy mindset, body and spirit. Imagine your life as a journey down a river with differing geography along the way affecting the water flow – rapids, water fall, tranquil, eddie, swamp, etc. You may not be able to change the situation or circumstances you find yourself in, you can only be where you are on the river of life. But it’s how we show up at this time and this place on the river of life which will impact how fully we live each experience of life.

Because of the rapid and unexpected change that has happened in 2020, we are looking for some sense of equalibrium. This is often described as the “new normal” but essentially our brains want to normalize life as much as possible. This helps to reduce the amount of mental energy that goes into navigating new and unexpected situations. This is where attending to a healthy mindset, spirit and body come in.
