Earlier this month, I recommended taking time to REFLECT on your progress for the first half of 2022. Something that you may not have reflected on is the influence your MINDSET is having on your performance. I have found that this is one area I have to focus on daily to ensure success in every area of life and I bet you do as well. So let’s talk about putting on the SCARF.



Here’s how it works



The SCARF model was first introduced by David Rock in his book, Your Brain At Work in 2009. David states that when our Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relationships, or Fairness are threatened, we have a threat response which releases stress hormones in our body which can last up to 72 hours.

Needless to say, we all have had one or more of these areas impacted by events of the past few years. And world events don’t seem to be letting up. So what’s the good news? Well that is where we make a decision to practice Gratitude and Thankfulness. There is a verse from the Bible, Psalm 22:3 that states, “God inhabits the praises of His people.” Notice it doesn’t say God inhabits the complaints of His people. It has been proven that being thankful and grateful improves every area of our lives – mental, physical, spiritual, relational, financial, career, etc. There is NO downside.

So what about you?

Pick one area of your life you find yourself anxious or complaining about. Whatever it is find SOMETHING to be thankful for about it. I know that it’s not where you want it to be yet, but give thanks for what you DO have in that area. Practice this daily and keep expanding and notice the shift that happens.
